Arus Academy is an education social enterprise specializing in creating high quality education solutions for students and teachers in Malaysia. Arus is constantly searching for ways to make education more accessible and impactful through systemic and ground-up approaches. We advocate for five main literacy areas, which are STEAM education, financial literacy, media and information literacy, social and emotional learning, and global citizenship education. In our mission to empower today’s problem solvers, we have been running year long school programmes with students from Buku Jalanan Chow Kit.

Responsibilities based on Objectives:
- Personalise lesson for student’s success: Co-create, review, and teach primary school classes especially languages and humanities subjects and related topics.Research, test out and document the best strategies to engage students through collaborative activities for both in-person and online interaction.
Work with a team of teachers to create professional learning communities that focus on professional development and improving classroom practices.
Engage with students by coaching and developing their leadership & communication skills, inspiring them to create a brighter future for all.
Plan, prepare, deliver, and track the students’ progress.
Plan, prepare, deliver, and track lessons following an agreed upon PBL driving question and milestones. (include creating lesson plan for each lesson).
Attend and involve in school-related meetings and write progress reports for students.
- Nurture innovative and creative thinking skills among students: Build relationships, teach, motivate and inspire students to think critically so that they are able to solve real word problems.Model Arus’ REACH values
Develop, revise and update lesson plans and lesson materials to make sure content is up to date and relevant.
Model growth mindsets and instil 21st century skills in students.
Teach project based learning lessons and track student progress.
Feedback and improve teaching strategies on a monthly basis.
- Sustain and build teacher professionalism: Co-create and co-develop guidelines and processes for the Pioneer pillar for knowledge sharing based on your experience with the Sekolah Buku Jalanan Chow Kit project.Research, test out and document the best strategies to engage students through collaborative activities for both in-person and online interaction.

Requirements:
- Have experience of full time teaching for at least 2 years.
- Proficient/willing to be proficient in Google products such as Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Classroom, Google Sites, Google Docs. Plus points for Canva skills.
- Able to commit to a full time teaching role in Chow Kit, KL and able to travel independently to work.
- Proficient in verbal and written English & Bahasa Melayu.
- Must be keen to explore new pedagogical approaches to improve teaching practices
